This blog is intended as a way of sharing information about FROUDE families in New Zealand. I have been doing research for decades but there is always more information and stories to find so I am hoping that by publishing this information I may get feedback about changes that are needed or extra information about descendants of the families shown here.

The blog will probably cover FROUDE descendants outside New Zealand as many have moved to Australia and other countries. And then of course there are those who stayed in England or Ireland. My FROUDE family came from around Dartmouth in Devon, and some spent a few decades in Ireland. The famous historian James Anthony FROUDE was born at Dartington, Devon, just 10 kilometres up the river Dart from Dartmouth, so there has always been speculation that we are related, but no proof has been possible to date.

There are other FROUDE families in New Zealand who are not from Devon and I may post blogs about them later, but initially I will focus on the pre-1900 FROUDEs.

Also always welcome are photos or family stories. Also please let me know if you see any mistakes as I would like the information to be as accurate as possible.
