A footnote: Some people have tried to link The James Anthony FROUDE tree to the FROUDE family in New Zealand that came from the Dartmouth area. While I am sure there is a link somewhere, major mistakes are being spread on the Internet largely because of the My Heritage On line Genealogy site, which invites people to make the links. In particular the John FROUDE (FRUDE) born about 1750 who married Margaret BURGOIN on the 6th January 1774 at Cornworthy has been linked on My Heritage sites to the Rev. John FROUDE born 1743 Modbury.

They are two completely separate people. and the origins of John FROUDE (FRUDE) who married Margaret BURGOIN remain unknown.

The Rev. John FROUDE (1743) married Prestwood Love LEGASSIKE on 22 March 1769 at Modbury. They had 11 known children between 1769 and 1788. The Rev John FROUDE's ancestry is listed above. 

Leonard FROUDE from Holyhead to Foxton

Leonard FROUDE - A later arrival to New Zealand in 1958 came from Holyhead, Wales and ended up in Foxton, Manawatu, New Zealand)

Leonard FROUDE was born 27 February 1935 at Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales. Holyhead is a major link port for Ireland located in Wales. He died 4 Jan 2004 at Foxton.

His parents were Albert Charles FROUDE (1902 Dublin - 1958 Holyhead) and Anabel Mary BRIDLE (1903 Winterton, Norfolk, England - death unknown).

Albert Charles FROUDE's (1902-1958) father was also called Albert Charles but his surname was spelt FROUD. He was born 1875, Kensington, London and married Eva Jane DAVIES (1873 Wales - ) in Dublin in 1902).

Leonard flew out to New Zealand in 1958 on Quantas flight EM743, which travelled to New Zealand via Honolulu. His address prior to leaving was Hartford Cottage, Holyhead.

Soon after arriving in 1958, he married Althea Pauline TUNNICLIFFE, and they had one daughter Veronica Anne in 1960.

In 1963 Leonard married again, this time to Patricia Ann SIMMONS (1937-2008). They also had one daughter, Kim Boyd in 1964.

By 1969 Leonard was living at 78 Tonar Street, Birkenhead and was described as a Salesman. By 1972 he was described as a Painter and spent the rest of his working life as a Painter.

In 1989 Leonard was living at 35 Ernie Pinches Street, Mt Roskill, Auckland.

By 1999 Leonard was retired and living at 21 Herrington Strret, Foxton.

Leonard died 4 January 2004 in Foxton.
